Introduction
The most significant contribution of Ainsworth’s Strange Situation method relies on the recognition of the importance of individual differences in attachment relationships since early infancy. Individual differences in attachment show a considerable predictive capacity for later developmental outcomes, also in adulthood (Weinfield et al. 2008): specifically, early caregiver-infant attachment bonds provide the prototype for future close relationships.
