Definition

Psychopathy is a personality disorder comprised of an arrogant and deceitful interpersonal style, a deficient affective experience, and an impulsive and irresponsible behavioral style. The Antisocial Process Screening Device (APSD) is a screening tool for assessing psychopathy among children and adolescents.

Introduction

Psychopathy is a multifaceted construct that identifies a subgroup of seriously violent adult offenders with distinct etiologies underlying their behavior. Attempts to identify this subgroup in earlier developmental stages in order to prevent this serious pattern of behavior have emerged. Such attempts are contingent on the development of tools that can accurately assess these characteristics among youth.
