Definition

In Christianity, the concept of death is tied to the death of Jesus: Christians typically believe that Jesus sacrificed himself to pay for the sins of mankind and those who believe in him will be forgiven for their sins and gain an eternal life in heaven.

Introduction

A general understanding of Christianity is a prerequisite to exploring the concept of death in this religion. Christianity is considered a monotheistic religion that centers on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as portrayed in the New Testament, the second major component of the Christian Bible.
