Introduction

Francis “Frank” T. McAndrew is the Cornelia H. Dudley Professor of Psychology at Knox College, a small private liberal arts college located in Galesburg, Illinois. In academic circles, McAndrew is probably best known for his popular 1990s textbook Environmental Psychology (McAndrew 1993) and for his more recent research exploring the psychology of gossip (McAndrew et al. 2007; McAndrew 2014, 2016, 2017). In the public arena, he may be best known for his numerous print, radio, and television interviews discussing the evolution of social behavior and for his Psychology Today Magazine blog “Out of the Ooze: Navigating the 21st Century with a Stone-Age Mind” (www.psychologytoday.com/blog/out-the-ooze).
