Carlos E. Sluzki, M.D. (1933–)

Introduction

Carlos E. Sluzki is a psychiatrist, family therapist, and psychoanalyst, who has published and presented extensively around the world on couple and family therapy, social networks, violence and victimization, refugees, and human rights. Dr. Sluzki currently practices couples and family therapy-oriented psychiatry in Washington D.C.

Career

Carlos E. Sluzki received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine, and became part of a pioneering team that introduced social and community psychiatry practices in that country, while being trained in psychoanalysis at the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association. He was also trained as a systemic therapist at the Mental Research Institute (MRI) in Palo Alto, CA, and was influential in introducing that discipline in Argentina, and then in Latin America through a series of intensive programs for Spanish-speaking professionals.
