Introduction
Monica McGoldrick is a licensed social worker who has made a substantial contribution to the field of couple and family therapy through her work at the Multicultural Family Institute in Highland Park, New Jersey. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Monica McGoldrick is a fourth generation Irish American and a nationally and internationally recognized author and editor whose books describe the use of genograms in family therapy and discuss the intersection of developmental and multicultural issues in the treatment of couples and families. Monica McGoldrick is currently the director of the Multicultural Family Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides education and training in family therapy, conducts research, and offers consultation services with an emphasis on multicultural, systemic, and social justice issues. In addition, McGoldrick has held faculty positions in several academic institutions.
