Abstract

PTSD has been diagnosed not only after traumatic insults but also after medical stressors, among them ocular insults. In this chapter the key points that both match and differ between medical stressors and traumatic stressors are described. Then, a description of PTSD after retinal detachment can be found, including prevalence, general risk factors, ocular risk factor, and other mental insults that can be caused by retinal detachment.
