Comprehensive Guide to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders

Abstract

Psychological morbidity is increasingly reported in prostate cancer (PC) patients. However, only a few studies have assessed PTSD as a response to PC diagnosis and to radical prostatectomy. The current chapter presents the few reports on PTSD as a response to PC diagnosis and to radical prostatectomy, suggesting that PTSD could be prevalent among PC patients and among their partners. Social and medical factors that can be used as predictors of psychological comorbidity are explored. Possible aspects of posttreatment psychological adjustment that are needed for developing well-targeted psychological interventions are also discussed.
