Definition
Virtual reality facilitates a more comprehensive stage for conveying knowledge. By immersing an individual into an ultra-realistic setting, a user is able to learn about a subject by living it rather than only hearing about the topic.
Introduction
Virtual reality (VR), traditionally used in gaming, is moving into more mainstream activities and developing in focused areas such as healthcare (Sik-Lanyi 2017), for example, to help hospital patients and support training of hospital staff. Sector-based organizations are starting to recognize the benefits that VR offers toward improving the productivity of their services. As such, the main idea behind this article is to build a virtual reality proton beam therapy unit to support cancer patients undertaking proton beam therapy and, in doing so, improve the productivity of the treatment process.
