Abstract

John Kottunios, Doctor of Medicine, Philosophy, and Theology, was a late Renaissance scholar. He was actively committed to the philosophical and scientific debates of his time as well as to the humanist educational ideal. An exponent of late Scholasticism, he distinguished himself as translator and commentator of Aristotle. In his writings, he was particularly engaged in harmonizing Aristotelian and Catholic ethics and in discussing novel astronomical knowledge.
