Abstract

Branda PORRO (1487–1571).

A minor figure no doubt, in spite of his high consideration in Milan among his fellows citizens, Branda Porro is a sample of the kind of Aristotelian scholarship in vigor when Girolamo Cardano joined the University of Pavia (Studium Papiense). There he was a University teacher in Philosophy, an Academic (a member of the Accademia degli Affidati in Pavia), a Catholic, and a friend of members of Milan’s Senato (which governed the Università of Pavia). He apparently left no printed work.
