Abstract
Philippe Canaye was a jurist, initially brought up according to Calvinist principles before converting to Catholicism. He played an important political and diplomatic role under French Kings Henry III and Henry IV. In the field of philosophy, he produced a paraphrase of the Organon in French, the first vernacular adaptation of the text, and spoke out in favor of instrumental logic.
