Geographically, Arctic tourism takes place within the boundary of the Arctic (Figure 1), regardless of whether it is defined by latitude, geopolitics, climate, or other factors. Sociologically, it could also encompass visits to attractions associated with the Arctic, such as the archives and museum of Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge, United Kingdom (Maher 2007).
