Definition
The chapter discusses the linkages between biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Based on the three key principles of sustained extraction of natural resources based on scientific management, reduced wastage, and equity in redistribution of the yields, the chapter demonstrates that biodiversity conservation is part of the foundation on which sustainability is constructed.
Introduction
Modern-day biodiversity conservation, as opposed to preserving biodiversity, can be genuinely traced back to the publication of the worldwidely prized The Limits to Growth by Meadows et al. in 1972.
