Introduction
The use of new technologies and the acquisition of technology-related competences have been widely considered relevant and even indispensable for participation in a modern knowledge and information society (Anderson 2008; Jordan et al. 2016). Recent developments have led to the emergence of new challenges for schools and school systems, resulting in an ever-growing need for students to develop new forms of relevant skills like digital literacy or computer and information literacy (Drossel et al. 2017). In view of the necessity to meet these challenges, tablet computers are seen as providing a variety of opportunities as mobile learning devices.
