Glossary
- Brine:
-
Water that contains a high concentration of salts.
- EES:
-
Enhanced evaporation spray system is based on the evaporation of water from an elevated system of spray nozzles.
- Energy conversion:
-
Conversion of one type of energy to another, e.g., solar radiation to heat, heat to electricity, etc.
- Halocline:
-
The concentration gradient.
- Makeup water:
-
Water that is added to a cycle to compensate for water losses due to leakage or because it had been intentionally used.
- Nonconvective solar pond:
-
is a salt-gradient pond in which salt gradient effectively stops convection.
- ORC:
-
Organic Rankine cycle.
- Organic Rankine cycle:
-
A Rankine cycle using an organic fluid as motive fluid instead of water which is commonly used.
- Pond yield:
-
The ratio between the pond thermal or electrical energy production and the collected solar energy.
- Power plant:
-
is a plant in which thermal or other energy is converted to electricity.
- Power station:
-
A power plant.
- Salt-gradient solar pond:
-
A solar pond...
