Definition
An elevated structure surrounded by a ring at lower elevation than its surroundings.
Subtypes
- (1)
Moat crater: Impact landform with a central elevated structure and an annular basin. See also central dome crater (Ganymede), chaotic crater floor (mars) (marginal), fractured floor crater (classes III and IV), inverted crater (with moat), marine-target crater, nested crater, pitted pedestal crater (with coalesced marginal pits), ring furrow, ring moat, and ring mold crater.

Other moats: Circumferential depression, Blowout dune and hollow, south polar residual cap features:moat (sublimational).
