Definition
Plains on Venus displaying orthogonal fractures.
Category
A type of volcanic plain.
Synonyms
Description
Parallel, thin, straight, intersecting extensional lineations on Venus with two orthogonal sets (Banerdt and Sammis 1992). In the type area on Guinevere Planitia, gridded plains consist of more linear NE trending fractures and more irregular NW trending lineations composed of a series of curvilinear en echelon fractures (Banerdt and Sammis 1992; Bowman and Sammis 1995; Fig. 1).
