Clinical genetics got its start in 1948 with the founding of the American Society of Human Genetics, which formalized a scientific approach to the study of human genetics . Traditionally clinical genetics requires practitioners to function as data integrators. Like traditional healthcare, tests are ordered and results returned as interpretive reports delivered in paper form.
