Abstract

This contribution gives an overview of law and economic works on consumer protection. It does so by taking three complementary angles: (1) assessing harmonization efforts regarding consumer protection in Europe, (2) presenting selected topics of substantive consumer law, and (3) analyzing the European consumer law enforcement from an economic point of view.

I wish to thank Roger van den Bergh for the valuable comments on an earlier version of this contribution.
