Definition

Evidence-based behavioral medicine (EBBM) is the branch of the evidence-based practice (EBP) movement that addresses behavioral interventions to promote health and mitigate the impact of illness. Evidence can be defined as research findings resulting from systematic inquiry, collection of observational data, and experimentation. Evidence-based practice is an approach to improve the translation of scientific evidence into best clinical decisions that support health. The evidence-based practice movement establishes consensus on standards used to conduct, report, evaluate, and disseminate research results to increase uptake and impact on health practice and policy.
