Major Areas or Mission Statement
Membership as of August 2017: Approximately 66,000 members in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and internationally including pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, and surgical subspecialists belong to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Thirty-four thousand members are Board Certified in Pediatrics and can be listed as Fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics or FAAP.
Major Areas or Mission Statement: “The mission of the AAP is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. To accomplish this mission, the AAP shall support the professional needs of its members.”
