Membership is open to families and individuals whose lives are affected by autism spectrum disorders (those formerly known as Asperger syndrome, PDD-NOS, and high-functioning autism) and nonverbal learning disabilities and the professionals who work with them.
Major Areas or Mission Statement
ASPEN is a national volunteer nonprofit organization with headquarters in New Jersey. It was established in 1997 by a group of parents of children diagnosed with Asperger syndrome to address the increasing need for information, support, and advocacy for individuals on the higher-functioning end of the autism spectrum and their families.
Mission
We will:
Increase awareness and knowledge among the community and the professionals who diagnose, treat, educate, or provide services to individuals with Asperger syndrome (autism spectrum disorder) and related disorders
Develop and maintain a strong network of families to support one another through the challenges of daily life
