Transportation Technologies for Sustainability

Abstract

The success of internal combustion engine vehicles over the past century is one of the greatest technological achievements of mankind with a profound impact on virtually every aspect of human life on the plant. However, the very widespread success of this technology has produced associated problems which can be the seeds of its own long-term demise. Solution of these problems will guarantee the long-term survival of personal and mass transit vehicles which are so essential to the economy and welfare of human beings. The proper combination of these solutions can bring about what is termed sustainable vehicles.
