n (1) Alkali-resistant constituents of certain natural resins, e.g., dammar, and characterized by the presence of oxygen. The resenes are not, however, acids, aldehydes, esters, ketones, or lactones. (2) As applied to naval stores, those constituents of rosin which cannot be saponified with alcoholic alkali, but which contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in the molecule.
