n Spectroscopic technique that investigates the vibration of molecules on surfaces. Reflection–absorption spectroscopy uses IR light to excite the molecules on the surface. These molecules will absorb only certain fixed frequencies. Hence, the spectrum will show the absorption peaks characteristic of the molecule as well as its method of bonding to the surface.
