n A general theory, derived from statistical mechanics, applicable to both chemical reactions and creep phenomena in plastics. For the latter, the theory relates time-to-rupture to stress and the reciprocal of the absolute temperature. An equation recommended for a pipe in ASTM D 2837 is,
$$log \ {\rm }\ t = A_0 + A_i /T + \left( {A_2 /T} \right) \cdot \ log\ S$$
