OF rengier to range] (14c) (R) In sampling of product dimensions and properties, the difference between the largest and smallest values in the sample. Range charts for small samples have long been used in quality-control work. The range is simple to calculate and is almost as efficient as the  Standard Deviation in samples of two to five items.
