n A rule of thumb stating that the ratio of polymer’s glass-transition temperature to its melting temperature (Tg/Tm), both in Kelvin, usually lies between 0.5 and 0.7. For symmetrical polymers, such as polyethylene, it is close to 0.5; for unsymmetrical ones, such as polystyrene and polyisoprene, it is near 0.7.
