n (1) Nonvolatile portion of the liquid vehicle of a coating. It binds or cements the pigment particles together and the paint film as a whole to the material to which is it applied. See also  Vehicle. (2) Component of an adhesive composition which is primarily responsible for the adhesive forces which hold two bodies together. (3) Resin or cementing constituent of a plastic compound which holds the other components together. The agent applied to glass mat or performs to bond the fibers prior to laminating or molding.
