\▐we-bәr, ▐vā-bәr\ n [Wilhelm E. Weber † 1891 German physicist] (2892) (Wb) The SI unit of magnetic flux, defined a the magnetic flux which, linking a circuit of one turn, produces in it an electromotive force of one volt and the flux is reduced to zero at a uniform rate in one second. Therefore, 1 weber = 1 volt·second. The former unit of flux, the Maxwell, part of the so-called “absolute” system of electrical units, equals 10−8 Wb.
