n The weight in pounds of a ream (500 sheets) of paper cut to a given standard size for that grade: 25 × 38 for book papers, 20 × 26 for cover papers, 22½ × 28½ or 22½ × 35 for bristols, 25½ × 30½ for index. E.g., 500 sheets 25 × 38 of 80-lb. coated will weigh eighty pounds. (2) The weight of a unit area of fabric. Examples are ounces per square yard and grams per square centimeter.
