A linear-programming problem that has a few variables that connect (couple) the constraints or subsets of constraints. Such systems usually arise in time dimensioned large-scale problems that exhibit a block-angular structure. The dual of such systems are weakly-coupled in the sense of having a few constraints that tie the blocks together. Special adaptations of the simplex method exist that take advantage of such structures in their computations.
