Failure to elicit normal response after repeated stimuli. Often the organism gradually decreases it response to the stimulus, and the organism may not respond even after the stimulus is discontinued for a protracted period. All insects are thought to be capable of habituation to some stimuli, and it is considered to be the simplest form of learning.
