Action Medical Research is dedicated to preventing and treating disease and disability by funding vital medical research in UK-based hospitals and universities. The remit focuses on child health with an emphasis on clinical research or research at the clinical/basic interface. Research applications are judged by rigorous peer review.

Action Medical Research Project Grants

Subjects: A broad spectrum of research with the objective of preventing and treating disease and disability and alleviating physical disability. The remit focuses on child health to include problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and adolescents.

Purpose: To support one precisely formulated line of research.

Eligibility: Open to researchers based in the United Kingdom. Grants are not awarded to other charities or for higher education.

Action Medical Research Training Fellowship

Subjects: A broad spectrum of research with the objective of preventing and treating disease and disability and alleviating physical disability. The remit focuses on child health to include problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and adolescents. We welcome applications from clinicians, bioengineers, research nures and allied health professionals

Purpose: To enable the training of medical and bioengineering graduates in research techniques and methodology in areas of interest to Action Medical Research.

Eligibility: Open to medical and non-medical graduates. Although it is not limited to United Kingdom citizens, those who do not hold United Kingdom citizenship must be able to show that they have all the required statutory documentation, e.g. work permits, to cover the period of the fellowship. Preference will be given to candidates resident in the United Kingdom. No grants are made purely for higher education. Although applicants are strongly encouraged to independently register for a PhD.
