In the artrial fibrillation (AF) setting, this term refers to medical strategies aimed at restoring sinus rhythm, the heart's natural rhythm, and preventing recurrence of AF. Traditionally this was done with antiarrhythmic drugs, but recently non-pharmacologic Rhythm Control strategies such as catheter ablation have grown in popularity.
