The LupusQOL, derived from SLE patients, is a 34-item SLE-specific HRQOL measure developed in the UK. It has eight domains: physical health, pain, planning, intimate relationships, burden to others, emotional health, body image and fatigue and was evaluated in over 600 outpatients. It has good internal reliability, test-retest reliability, concurrent validity with the SF-36 and discriminant validity for different levels of disease activity and damage. As yet, there is no sensitivity to change data. It has been cross-culturally adapted and evaluated for use in the United States and the Chinese version is being evaluated. Translation into other languages is also underway.
