Interferon-γ is a very potent proinflammatory cytokine, which orchestrates cellular immune response by inducing several important biochemical pathways: induction of neopterin formation, tryptophan degradation, release of interleukin-12 and tumor necrosis factor, production of reactive oxygen species and many more.
