A state of upset mood characterized by depression, anxiety, and general dissatisfaction. Dysphoria (the dysphoric state) is used in clinical psychology to describe the unpleasant moods and affects that are often symptoms of mood disorders such as depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and general anxiety disorder.
