This is calculated by dividing the TYLL by the number of individuals who have died in the specified time period, within the catchment population, the having previously been diagnosed with the cancer of interest.
AYLL gives the average shortening of life for an individual affected by a specific cancer. Like YLL, it gives relatively higher weighting to tumors that are incurable and affect younger patients.
