Disorder due to a deficiency of hemoglobin. The clinical features may include pallor, easy fatigue, breathlessness on exertion, giddiness, palpitation and loss of appetite. Anemia can be graded as mild (Hb levels ranging from 10 to 12 g/dl), moderate (Hb levels of 8–10 g/dl), or severe (Hb levels below 8 g/dl).
Anemia is defined by the World Health Organization as a hemoglobin concentration less that 130 g/L in men and less than 120 g/L in women.
