Rosacea.
Definition
Rosacea is a common skin condition chacterized by erythema, flushing, papules, pustules and telangectasias of the face, often of the cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead. It is equally common in men and women, and usually occurs after the age of 30 years. Secondary features include facial burning, rhinophyma, edema, plaques, ocular manifesations and a peripheral facial distribution. Subtypes include 1. Erythematotelangeiectatic rosecea: flushing and nontransient central facial erythema; 2. Paupulopustular rosacea: central facial erythema with paupules/pustules, resembling acne vulgaris but without comedones; 3. Phymatous rosecea: thickened, irregular skin with nodularities and enlargement of the nose, chin, forehead, ears, or cheeks; 4. Ocular roseacea: ocular dryness, itching, periocular erythema, conjunctivitiis, conjunctival hyperemia, usually diagnosed with other features of cutaneous rosacea; 5. Variant: granulomatous rosacea, which are papules or nodules...
