∗Kartli and Kakheti are historical names for provinces of Georgia. Kartli is situated to the W of Tbilisi and up to the Dzirula-Surami transverse uplift. Kakheti is situated E of the Tbilisi meridian and up to the border with Azerbaijan, where its natural extension is the Atzihinour steppe region.
