Synonym: Steppe
Grasslands are temperate continental zonal vegetation in cold, semi-arid climates that consist of perennial grasses, xeric grasses and certain bush vegetation. China’s grasslands can be divided into four types: meadow grasslands, typical grasslands, desert grasslands, and alpine grasslands. They are mainly located in the western part of Inner Mongolia, the northwestern desert areas and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The grasslands around the world are divided into Eurasian, North American and South American grassland areas.
