Glaciers are mostly located in alpine areas, and most of these areas are natural, ecologically sensitive and fragile. Due to the impact of global warming, the shrinkage of modern glaciers around the world has become significant in recent decades. The protection of glaciers is mainly accomplished by reductions in greenhouse gases, preservation of vegetation and forests and control of soil erosion and desertification. In addition, tourism activities on glacial surfaces, particularly on ancient glaciers, are also restricted or prohibited.
