Geotourism areas are located near geological heritage protection areas with interesting geological attractions and well-designed trails and routes. Maps and interpretive signs and boards are used to provide information about the geological and geomorphological features. These are areas for science popularisation and are excellent venues for students to learn about the geopark. Guided tours are typically available with fixed or flexible schedules that suit the needs of visitors with different backgrounds.
