Studies of the geoheritage of a geopark focus on the evolution, features, representativeness and aesthetic characteristics of the geology and geomorphology. Studies of the evolution include the formation, development, history and predictions of future development. The ancient geographical environment and other factors are considered and analysed. The aesthetic values are explored, recorded and then translated in a later stage into useful information that can be easily comprehended by the public. The prediction of future development helps in the formulation of safety and protection plans, regulations and laws. Regional, national and global comparative studies also enable the assessment of the scientific value and uniqueness of the geoheritage.
