An extinct volcano is a volcano that is currently inactive and has no eruptive activity for nearly 10,000 years. Some still maintain an intact volcano form, whereas others have been weathered and eroded to become incomplete relics. Examples are the mesa in Jiangning in Jiangsu Province and the Datong volcano cluster in Shanxi Province (Fig. 11).
