End Moraine Bar Landscape

Synonym: Block packing landscape

This is a landscape comprising embankment-like features composed of glacial terminal moraines. When the supply and melting of ice at the glacier front are in equilibrium, glacial moraines accumulate in front of the ice tongue to form a curving embankment, which is called an end moraine bar. This type of moraine is also called a terminal-type moraine or a terminal moraine. It can also be called a tail moraine or front moraine (Fig. 6).
