This human habitation is called an eco-city. As an official scientific concept, eco-city was proposed during the ‘Man and Biosphere Programme’ initiated by UNESCO. It is an ecologically sound, compact, vigorous, and energetic settlement that coexists with nature and enables the society and ecological environment to develop in harmony in an ideal direction. An eco-city is a comprehensive concept that includes both the natural environment and humanistic values; it is an economically, socially and environmentally coordinated and unified complex system that focuses on people, is based on the natural environment, and is supported by the resource flows.
